FAQs About Pure Religion

Q: How much will it cost for my church to display the Pure Religion exhibit?

A:Nothing! Contributions from various sources have made it possible for the East Texas Heart Gallery to create several exhibits that are available for display in East Texas churches. You will be provided with an electronic template for creating an informational handout. Other than costs for handouts that you print to accompany the Heart Gallery, hosting the exhibit will not cost your church anything.

Q: Is the Heart Gallery exhibit difficult to display? Are the portraits hung on the walls?

A:The answers are No and No. One of our primary goals is to make the Heart Gallery easy to display so that you can spend your time coming up with great ways to help people in your church become involved in the lives of the children. We have created specially designed portable exhibits that will allow you to display the pictures of the children without nailing or affixing anything to the walls of your facility. We will also arrange to have the exhibits delivered and picked up from your facility – so all you need to do is determine the best place to locate the displays so that as many people as possible will see the faces of these beautiful children.

Q: Who will my church actually work with to coordinate the details?

A: The East Texas Heart Gallery will be your single point of contact both in terms of all the details associated with the exhibit as well as determining the best way to provide opportunities for people in your church to take a next step and become involved in the lives of these children. Also, we will host a fact-finding meeting at your church to help provide people with information about these opportunities to serve and become involved.

Q: How many pictures are in a Heart Gallery exhibit?

A: Churches have displayed exhibits as small as 6 pictures and as large as 36 pictures. We can provide you with displays of any size up to 36 pictures – so the size of the display is entirely up to you. We can also provide you with digital images that can be displayed in various creative and effective ways.

Q: Can I contact other churches to learn about their experiences in hosting the Heart Gallery and reaching out to children in foster care?

A: Absolutely. Depending on your church’s interests, there are several churches that have already hosted the Heart Gallery. Some churches have even developed ongoing ministries to reach out to children in foster care in a variety of ways and support and encourage adoptive and foster families in their congregation and their community. Just let us know what would be most helpful for your church.

Q: How can I volunteer?

A: You can volunteer in the following ways:
• CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
• COAC (Coalition of Adoptable Children- support group for adoptive parents)
• Heart Gallery (Many opportunities)
• CAC (Child Advocacy Center)
• DFPS (Department of Family and Protective Services)
• Mentorr
• PAL (Preparing for Adult Living)
• Obtain Christmas and birthday gifts
• Obtain Prom dresses and rent Tuxedos for seniors still in foster care
• Begin an adoption ministry in the church (Some churches start a foster/adopt ministry to support their congregation; Pure Religion connects the churches with tools and resources to start such ministries)
• Pray for a child

It is not possible to predict the exact way in which each congregation will be moved. The success of the exhibit cannot be measured but the ripple effect is tremendous.
Every step taken, every heart opened and every prayer spoken on behalf of these children will have a positive impact on their lives.
