About Pure Religion
Who We Are
Pure Religion is a volunteer-led initiative of the East Texas Heart Gallery that seeks to connect churches across East Texas with children in foster care. We exist to help local churches by raising awareness, providing resources, sharing ideas and helping them effectively love and serve children in foster care in a variety of meaningful ways.
What We Do
Pure Religion is a volunteer based initiative that connects churches across East Texas with childrenwaiting for adoption who are currently living in foster care.
Displaying the Heart Gallery in a place of worship is the perfect way to reach concerned persons. After a congregation is informed to the needs of these children, the interested individuals learn about the many ways to help them in a follow-up meeting. We are available to speak during a service if it is requested.
At the end of the 3-week exhibit, Pure Religion hosts a follow up meeting that will give information as well as be motivating and engaging to encourage participants. Not everyone can foster or adopt so these are a few of the ways a person might help these children through this Heart Gallery effort:
• Adopt a specific child who is currently living in foster care
• Become a foster family who one day may want to adopt
• Become a foster family for the benefit of the temporary care of children
• Through the state or private agencies who are present at the follow-up
meeting
How We Can Help
Pure Religion has developed a number of tools and resources to help your church as it explores how best to become involved in loving and serving children in foster care. Our primary tool for raising awareness is the Heart Gallery, which is a well-designed photographic exhibit that introduces children who are anxiously awaiting adoption by loving families they can call their own.
Pure Religion has developed Heart Gallery exhibits that are dedicated for display in East Texas churches. These exhibits are easy to display and have proven to be a great way for churches to highlight both the needs of children in our community as well as the many ways that people can love and serve them. Pure Religion can also help you identify ways to engage people within your congregation and then educate, train and support them as they move forward.

The Heart Gallery touches everyone who sees it because it does more than simply put a face on the foster care system, it puts heart into the matter. The children reach out to you through their beautiful smiles and loving eyes and remind you that we are all God’s children put on this earth to care for one another.
